Dealz Raise a Spook-tacular €250,000 for Make-A-Wish® Ireland

Today (Tuesday, 31st October 2017), Ireland’s leading discount retailer Dealz is delighted to announce that they have raised a staggering €250,000 in aid of Make-A-Wish Ireland. To celebrate and to further raise funds to reach the next fundraising milestone for the charity, Dealz stores across the country hosted a Hallowe’en themed in-store family fun day.

Make-A-Wish child ambassador, Abby, age 5, together with Make-A-Wish representative Marjut Ellis, visited the store and met with the Dealz team on the day, commending the team for their fantastic efforts over the last five years. Abby had her wish granted last year when she went to Disneyland Paris.

Dealz is hugely proud of the work its team has done with charity partner Make-A-Wish since opening their first store in Blanchardstown in 2011. Over the past six years, customers and store colleagues have supported the charity through various in-store activities; including themed fundraisers, family fun days, selling Make-A-Wish merchandise and by raising awareness of the charity association at each new Dealz store opening across the country.

Speaking about the milestone achieved on behalf of the charity, Dealz Regional Sales Manager, Darren Jones, states, ‘We have been overwhelmed by the support of our customers during our fundraising initiatives throughout the last six years and are delighted to have reached this landmark figure in aid of Make-A-Wish. Dealz has 60 stores nationwide and we are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate. Make-A-Wish has touched the lives of many Irish families and we’re delighted to continue in our commitment to raising these vital funds and hitting the next fundraising milestone.’

The aim of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wishes of children aged between three and 17 who are living with life-threatening medical conditions. Having recently hosted their inaugural Irish ‘Wish Star Awards’, the charity announced that they have granted wishes for over 2, 100 children since arriving in Ireland 25 years ago. The awards, which took place in Dublin, saw Gareth Crowe, Head of Corporate at Make-A-Wish Ireland pay a special tribute to Dealz, ‘Without the many supporters we are so lucky to have, the scope of our work would be greatly diminished. The award we are presenting to Dealz this evening is a small token of thanks to the many employees who, over the last six years, have done so much for our wish children and their families. It is a pleasure to work with Dealz and be associated with your stores, customers and colleagues. We have a bright future ahead together making magical wishes a reality for Ireland’s bravest children.’
