Andy Bond joined Poundland in November 2016 as Executive Chairman following Steinhoff’s acquisition of the business. Andy runs Pepkor Europe, a fast growing discount retail business with operations in Eastern and Western Europe as well as in the UK.
Previously, he was Chairman and CEO at Asda, starting his career as Marketing Manager in 1994 and holding various positions during his 16 years at the company including Managing Director for George.
Roy Ellis, Chief Financial Officer
Roy Ellis joined Poundland in November 2016, having worked for Steinhoff and Pepkor Europe since 2015. Prior to this, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Poundstretcher and was previously Group Finance Director for Peacocks. Roy began his retail career with WHSmith, having qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG.
Barry Williams, Trading Director
Barry joined Poundland as Trading Director in November 2016. He most recently occupied Executive Board roles with Asda Stores Ltd as Chief Customer Officer and Chief Merchandising Officer. Prior to this, Barry has held senior positions within the Commercial Functions of Musgrave Retail Partners, The Co Operative Group and Kwik Save Stores.
Tim joined Poundland in November 2016 as Supply Chain and Distribution Director with responsibility for all warehousing, distribution, ocean freight and the demand planning / forecasting and merchandising functions within Poundland.
More recently, Tim was Supply Chain & Logistics Director for Pepkor Europe where he oversaw the Logistics operations within the UK and France, where he still maintains his responsibilities.
Tim has gained a breadth of Supply Chain, Distribution and Retail experience during his 20+ year career which started in Safeway as a general assistant. Prior to this Tim headed up Supply Chain within Sainsbury’s, and also held the role of Supply Chain and Distribution Director for Hobbycraft.
Mr Dawson joined Poundland from ASDA where he was Retail Director, trading both the legacy Asda and converted Netto stores across the Asda estate.
He previously held positions including Operations Director for the South and Managing Director of Superstores and Supercentres at ASDA and earlier in his career worked for Tesco, New Look and Barratt Shoes.
Andy Garbutt, Business Development Director
Mr Garbutt joined Poundland in May 2015 as Business Development Director, with responsibility for the effective management and development of the UK and European property portfolio, the development of new markets in Europe and also specific business development projects.
Prior to joining Poundland, Mr Garbutt worked at Card Factory for five years as Corporate Development Director, responsible for developing the store portfolio, consumer research and the Card Factory website. Before Card Factory he spent 10 years as Retail and Leisure Director at PwC, with a focus on commercial and operational due diligence in the UK and continental Europe.
Michelle Burton, Human Resources Director
Ms Burton joined Poundland in April 2015 as Human Resources Director with responsibility for the development and delivery of the Company’s people and engagement strategies, spanning the full employee lifecycle.
Ms Burton has over 20 years’ of Human Resources experience spanning the retail, manufacturing, distribution and facilities management sectors and joined Poundland from Cofely, GDF SUEZ, where she held the position of Human Resources Director. Prior to that she held a number of senior HR positions in her ten-year career with J Sainsbury plc, including Head of Reward, Head of Learning and Development and HR Director for Sainsbury’s Logistics division.
Mike Gray, IT Director
Mr Gray joined Poundland in August 2003 as a Senior Controller with responsibility for developing IT capability. Appointed to the Board of Poundland Limited in March 2012 he is responsible for IT Strategy and the ongoing development and management of all aspects of IT.
Mr Gray has over 25 years’ IT experience spanning travel and retail sectors. Prior to joining Poundland, Mr Gray was Head of IT Services for TUI UK Limited.
Mrs Jhuti joined Poundland in November 2006 as sole counsel and assistant company secretary, subsequently becoming company secretary in January 2014. Appointed to the Trading Board in January 2012, she is responsible for managing legal risk, corporate compliance, insurance and customer relations.
In April 2016 Mrs Jhuti was appointed Legal and Compliance Director to the Trading Board.
Mrs Jhuti has over 24 year’s experience in the legal sector. Prior to joining Poundland Mrs Jhuti worked in-house at Alliance & Leicester (now Santander Bank) and Barclays Bank plc in addition to working in private practice at Martineau Johnson.
